Vs. Tuesday: One Song! Two Bands! Who Wins? FIGHT!

Recorded in Tampa, Florida at Morrisound Recording with Scott Burns in the production chair and released in 1991 is the album that many consider to be San Paulo Brazilian legends Sepultura’s finest hour. Well, 42 minutes and 26 seconds if you want to be specific about it. It’s the album that started the ball rolling on the side of experimentation with Latin American percussion, Hardcore Punk and Industrial influences playing their part in the previously exclusively Thrash and Death Metal sounds. At its 25th Anniversary, it became the 3rd Sepultura album to be inducted into the Decibel Magazine hall of fame. The album we’re talking about is “Arise”.

In the red corner, we have Extreme Melodic Death Metal titans God Syndrome. The Sumara, Russian natives recorded a cover of probably the best known cut from “Arise”, the song which is also played by both Sepultura and Soulfly to this day “Dead Embryonic Cells”.

Not to be outdone are Dutch natives Anger Machine. The modern Thrash Metallers with Crossover Thrash influences dropped their version in 2017. Who wins? You decide.
