NEWS: Shields share an ode to George Christie!
Directed and edited by Oli Duncanson and Samuel Kubrick Finney, a music video for the heartbreaking “Miss Me” by Shields has emerged ahead of the bands long awaited and highly anticipated new album. The track tells of the funeral of the bands guitarist George Christie who tragically took his own life in 2018, capturing the weight of emotion of the moment. The album, titled “Death & Connection” drops 30th January via Long Branch Records, falling between Post-Hardcore and Alternative Metal.
The band comment: “Some of you may know this; some of you may not. Shields were a band for many years before we went on a long hiatus in 2018. The principal reason for this was that our dear friend and band member, George Christie, took his own life. It was a harrowing time, and the loss of George cast a huge cloud over us that required us to stop pursuing Shields as a project.
Fast forward to 2024: Joe and Sam began writing “Death & Connection.” Joe had a song he had written that was never intended for this band—or any other project. That song was “Miss Me,” written not long after the funeral. He decided to bring it to Shields, where Joe, Sam, and Larry (previously of Shields) finished it together. Don’t suffer alone. Someone always cares.”
