NEWS: Kohnerah drop “Ominous Ubiquitous” teaser!
Following the release of a comic style video for a cut titled “Bovine Excision” from their upcoming debut album “Ominous Ubiquitous“, Kansas City Death Metal quintet Kohnerah have shared another teaser for the album. It will be available everywhere that you’d hope it to be on 13th January including bandcamp with a 6-panel CD said to be in the offering alongside a review from Metal Noise. Who are they?!
“The ever-expanding world of extreme metal, with its myriad of ceaselessly evolving sub-genres, is as fascinating as it is endless and Kohnerah has immersed themselves into this seemingly limitless environment by taking an open-minded approach to their writing style while remaining true to their early influences.
Formed in 2016 by vocalist Stephen Babcock (Diskreet, Gornography), guitarist Ryan Bender (Obliterate The Apex, Marasmus, Ancient Creation, Whoracle) and guitarist JD Cantrell (Damned By The Pope, Moiré), they began to envision and shape their brand, modifying the lineup until settling with the addition of guitarist Joshua Riley (Unmerciful) and bassist Spencer Halstead (Damned By The Pope). In this inception, Ryan Bender would undertake the responsibility of drums.
With a full lineup realized, The band then spent a couple of years writing and honing their sound, occasionally accepting offers to be opening support for local shows in their hometown of Kansas City, MO. In 2019, circumstances beyond their control forced them to find a new drummer. They recruited long-time friend Chris Thorpe to fill the position and with the new lineup, Kohnerah entered the studio to record their first full length album. Their debut effort entitled Ominous Ubiquitous is scheduled to be released independently on January 13, 2023″
