NEWS: Artanor throw their bullets in the roaring fire!

After seven days and seven nights wondering in the deserts of Australia in search of inspiration, Menelyagor, formerly of the short lived Black Metal project Fen Hollen, stumbled upon a vision for a mystical and chilling atmospheric take on the genre that is now dubbed Artanor. A debut album set for 27th July via Gutter Prince Cabal titled “In Servitude of Darkness”, inspired by the works of XasthurCarpathian Forest and Judas Iscariot promises epic tales of a magical, wicked and ancient world. Having issued the cease and desist order “Sons of the Rock”, now “From the Roaring Fire” is the warning shot…

Artanor comments on the single: “Constructed deep beneath the lands of Meklarah, so the allies can move swiftly and without being seen. However – unknown even to those that dwell under the ground – a new darkness awaits them in the depths”

Mastermind Menelyagor adds: “Artanor is a solo project that emerged in 2006 after [my previous band] Fen Hollen. Creatively, I’d been sitting on a conglomeration of ideas for some time as my family and managing life’s sufferings took a front seat. Then spontaneously, one night, I diverted and began writing what quickly became the bulk of a high fantasy novel for a bit of personal fun, The Rise of Meklarah.

In Servitude of Darkness is a release of sounds that accompanied the atmosphere of the story as the novel was written. Naturally, the album could then only be lyrically based on the stories events and actions of its characters, which was somewhat of a relief because it allowed me to reduce exposure to the more personal perspectives that I generally associate with and relate to when I listen to black metal.”
