Riff Police! Pull Over! #142: Judas Priest Vs Gamma Ray!

Arguably the album that kick started the Metal glory days in the 1980’s was “British Steel” by Judas Priest, with huge singles “Living After Midnight” and “Breaking The Law“. Recorded at Tittenhurst Park, the home of former Beatle drummer Ringo Starr, it remains one of just three of their albums to be played live in full. 21 years later and Gamma Ray, a band created by former Hellween vocalist and guitarist Kai Hansen unleashes their seventh studio album “No World Order” in 2001. An album styled after the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal bands and in particular Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, it saw the German Power Metal act tour Europe extensively and even go to Japan. But if “Solid” from Gamma Ray and “Rapid Fire” by Judas Priest aren’t very similar then someone needs to get their ears tested…
