NEWS: OWDWYR pity the fool with “Ein”?
Deep breath. Back in 2020, guitarist and composer Paul Plumeri, Jr. (ex-Isyou), bassist Chris Williams (Dark Waters Fall) and vocalist Max Lichtman (ex-Immolith), founded OWDWYR with ideas above their station for an Extreme Metal convergence of Tech Death, Prog, and Grind framed around a Classical core. After the better part of three years of crafting their vision, the trio have created a debut album “Receptor” which explores a wider rage of influences including but by no means limited to Car Bomb, Fleshgod Apocalypse and J.S. Bach. In doing so they have scoured the Globe in search of a collection of musicians to accompany them on their creative journey and have settled on Navene Koperweis (Entheos, Machine Head, ex-Animals as Leaders), Kenny Grohowski (Imperial Triumphant, John Zorn), Kevin Paradis (Ne Obliviscaris, Benighted), Alex Cohen (Contrarian, ex-Pyrrhon) to name but a few. Here’s a music video for “Ein” from the fifteen (that’s right 15!) track record to give you a flavour of what that might sound like. It drops on 20th October with pre-orders available here.
