Playthrough: “Consequence” from Esodic!

Newton’s Third Law of Action & Reaction states that for every action or force in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction, something that Middle East Death Thrash purveyors Esodic have taken to heart with “Consequence“. That’s the first single from their 22nd May releasing EP “De Facto De Jure” and so because they’re feeling generous, guitarist duo Michael Nolasco and Zaher Siryani have given us a strings playthrough video for it.

Michael Nolasco, the band’s rhythm guitarist, shared insights into the musical foundation of “Consequence,” noting, “The track is in a variation of E Phrygian, with a raised 3rd and sometimes raised 7th. We decided to play in standard tuning as a nod to classic thrash, and personally I saw it as a challenge to make the E standard as heavy as possible. But it most certainly came out heavy. Enjoy this playthrough video.”

Adding an exotic flair to the track, Zaher Siryani, who features on the guitar solo, expressed his enthusiasm for being part of this project: “Esodic, despite undergoing some lineup changes over the years, has consistently preserved its distinctive sound. Hailing from a Syriac background and possessing a deep familiarity with Turkish and Arabic music, coupled with an understanding of ESODIC’s rich history, being invited to contribute a solo on ‘Consequence’ was a truly exciting opportunity. In crafting the solo, my objective was to transition between an oriental and a western aesthetic, maintaining an overall catchiness. I employed Phrygian minor scales and diminished scales to achieve this unique fusion. Hope you enjoy this playthrough video.”
