NEWS: Obsidian Mantra offer “Cult Of Depression”!
Celebrating a decade of destruction, Polish Death Metal outfit Obsidian Mantra, known for their groove-centric, technical riffs with blurred black metal motifs, have announced 27th September will see the arrival of a new album “As We All Will” through label Via Nocturna. Mixed and mastered by Filip Hałucha at Heinrich House Studio (Hate, Behemoth, Entropia, Masachist) with additional editing by Mateusz Łukasiewicz, the album has been preceded by “Cult Of Depression“. For long time fans that will paint a familiar picture as once again the bands lyrics focus is on man, exploring existentialism, scepticism, individualism and the dark aspects of human nature, such as suffering, addictions, internal conflicts and self-destruction. Pre-orders are available over at bandcamp.
The band comment: “Cult of Depression takes on the contemporary image of mental illness. The song criticizes the romanticization of depression and its presence in (social) media as a trend, where instead of real support and awareness, it’s often just about gaining attention. The lyrics delve into issues of self-isolation, treating mental illness as part of one’s identity, and the false sense of community that comes from a shared void.”
