NEWS: Liminal Spirit seek a better place?

From the mind of Jerry Hauppa comes the harrowing tale of Phillip, an elderly dementia patient who is haunted by the ghosts of two children who accuse him of murder. That’s the concept behind “Unwell“, a new EP from Liminal Spirit which is due for a 31st October arrival, comprising five tracks of which three have been composed using microtonal guitars. As Phillip’s memory deteriorates, the music grows increasingly distorted, culminating in the final track “A Better Place” where he is judged in purgatory and ultimately cast into hell. The song’s oppressive atmosphere and chromatic descent mirror Phillip’s spiritual fall, delivering a visceral listening experience that is as unsettling as it is unforgettable. That track is now streaming. Pre-orders are available over at bandcamp

“My goal with this record is to explore ideas that represent some of my greatest fears. Having worked in nursing homes, I’ve seen firsthand how miserable they can be. The loss of faculties and fear of spiritual judgment are themes that haunt me, and now, they haunt this album” says Hauppa.
