NEWS: Survivalist return to Des Moines for “(Sic)”!

Having survived a trio of shows in Ireland with Thy Art Is Murder and Heriot in October, Belfast self styled Groove-core quartet Survivalist have returned with a cover of “(Sic)” by Slipknot. Once against recorded, produced, mix and mastered by Josh Sid Robinson (Lock Horns, Uragh, Archives) at JSR Audio this one shows off another side to the band who have an album titled “A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone…” waiting in the wings. That has already been introduced by an unholy trinity of singles including “Deathbed” which features a guest vocal appearance from former Chelsea Grin vocalist Alex Koehler so before that, it’s time to party like it’s 1999.

Vocalist Gavin Sharp says: “Slipknot has been a huge influence on every member of this band from the very beginning. They were one of the first heavy acts we connected with as kids—blasting through skateparks, shaping our tastes, and eventually inspiring elements of our own sound, from DJ scratching to even tuning the guitars on our first album the same way they did. As a titan of modern metal, Slipknot helped define the genre’s evolution, and we’ve grown up watching their journey—from lineup changes to the losses of Paul Gray and Joey Jordison—always progressing naturally while staying unmistakably themselves. Covering (sic) is our way of paying tribute to a band that helped shape who we are, both as musicians and as people.
