NEWS: Grey Sky Bleed evolve or die?
Refusing to stick too strictly to one style, Finland’s Grey Sky Bleed once again reveal a fresh side of their sound with powerful new cut “The Serpent With The Crown”. Pushing further into heavier territory while remaining anchored in Melodic Heavy Metal foundations that define their sound, the track is one that brings inner conflict to life, exploring the tension between rational and irrational thinking and the constant struggle for control.
Vocalist and keyboardist Jukka Ruostila: “The musical spark for The Serpent With The Crown came from my love for neurofunk (an aggressive sub-genre of drum & bass). I wanted to combine the raw energy and soundscapes of neurofunk with heavy metal. On top of that you can also hear some modern metal influences such as low-tuned guitars and even some death metal growls. This makes The Serpent With The Crown the most metal tune we’ve done so far! But of course, it’s all wrapped up with the melodic heavy metal elements that are the cornerstones of Grey Sky Bleed’s sound.”
Drummer and lyricist Sami Romppainen adds: “Sometimes the snake in your head takes on more of a role and sometimes you are better able to keep it under control… There are plenty of snake fights in the world, just choose yours!”
