NEWS: Distorta talk about relationships…
After announcing the departure of vocalist Dmitry Keremetskiy and the arrival of his replacement Cherie Briody at the end of January, Ballarat natives Distorta have unveiled a new single from their older stockpile in “Beneath The Surface“. It’s the first material to be released since last year’s EP “Deadman” with the band indoctrinating their new vocalist in the live arena before letting her loose in the studio.
The band comment: “This video was filmed over a limited 6 hour period in Sydney, late November 2025. Wolf Creek star John Jarratt appears as an absent father with unresolved anger issues and Nicole Sharrock from tv show Housos, as his estranged and equally angry daughter. These characters shine a light on the impact broken families can have on children through their lives. All dialogue was ad-libbed on the spot on the day. Nothing was scripted.
Lyrically, the song is about a person being bullied and the growing thoughts of violent retaliation he/she has building up inside. John acts out this violent outburst during the clip and ends with a tongue in cheek attack on the band to finish the clip.”
