NEWS: Arsames take us back to ancient Persia!
Having given us a cover of the Slayer classic “Raining Blood” last year, Arsames have now given “The Trooper” by Iron Maiden a Persian makeover. The Death Metal band who are inspired by Persian history, mythology and monotheism continue to remain active despite being arrested back in 2020, accused of being satan worshippers.
The band comment: “For this tribute to Iron Maiden’s legendary song “The Trooper,” Arsames chose a different path.
Instead of simply covering the original track, we reimagined it through the sound of ancient Persia by incorporating two of the most iconic instruments of Iranian music: the Setar and the Daf.
The Setar is a centuries-old Persian string instrument whose delicate and expressive sound has been an essential part of Persian classical music for generations. The Daf, a large frame drum with roots stretching back thousands of years, has long been used in traditional ceremonies, epic storytelling, and spiritual music throughout the region.
By blending these ancient instruments, we aimed to create a unique musical bridge between two worlds: the timeless legacy of Iron Maiden and the rich cultural heritage of Persia.
This is more than a tribute. It is a journey across centuries, where ancient strings, war drums, and metal unite as one”
