5 Albums I Want To Be Buried With #40: No Kings Allowed!

Known as a masked war machine that channel chaos and catharsis into a blend of Deathcore and Metalcore with cinematic layers so you get both brutality and raw emotion, No Kings Allowed have been destroying everything in their way since 2022. The six piece revisited some songs from their 2024 album “Dethroned” as an EP this past summer so they could share them as they would be had they been created by the band as it stands today. The guitars were re-recorded, the production rebuilt, new vocal parts from the current line-up were added and arrangements were updated after two years of them being performed live and while the originals are impressive, these cuts are an entirely different beast. After reviewing the record we spoke to the band about the afterlife and the conversation went something like this…

The premise is simple: “Back in ancient Egypt they believed that the items their Kings were buried with would travel with them into the afterlife and so part of the burial ritual would see the mummified bodies surrounded by chariots, gold and more. Fast forward to now. If there were five albums that you’d want buried in the coffin with you to take to the afterlife, what would you choose?”

Parkway Drive – “Killing With a Smile”

“One of the best examples of raw 2000’s Metalcore ever made. The production is aggressive, unfiltered and full of energy, and the whole record feels incredibly alive. We also love the DIY story behind it: a young Australian band travelling to the US, scraping the money together and recording with Adam D from Killswitch Engage. That mindset and rawness are a big part of why this album still hits so hard.”

As I Lay Dying – “Shadows Are Security”

“A true Metalcore classic and a huge influence on our guitar writing. The riffs are heavy but still incredibly melodic, with harmonies and lead lines that make the songs instantly recognisable. That balance between aggression and melody is something we really connect with, and you can definitely hear traces of that approach in No Kings Allowed.”

Shadow of Intent – “Reclaimer”

“Probably the biggest influence on the symphonic side of No Kings Allowed. The way this album combines orchestration with Deathcore feels massive, cinematic and emotional without losing any of its heaviness. It really showed us how symphonic elements can become part of the actual songwriting instead of just being decoration in the background.”

Whitechapel – “The Valley”

“A beautifully produced album that still feels organic and human. We especially love the drum mix — it sounds huge and powerful, but still natural and alive. The guitars are crushing, the dynamics are great and the storytelling gives the record a lot of emotional weight. It is a perfect example of how extreme music can still feel very personal.”

Kanonenfieber – “Die Urkatastrophe”

“What we love most is the storytelling and the way the First World War theme runs through the entire album. The use of samples, spoken fragments and atmosphere makes it feel almost cinematic, and that is something we have always connected with. We used samples a lot in the early days of No Kings Allowed and again on our Dark Reign EP. On top of that, the riffs can sometimes be very direct, but the chants, melodies and emotion make everything feel huge. The whole album simply feels alive.”

“Dethroned Reimagined” by No Kings Allowed is out 7th August 2026 and is available over at bandcamp
