NEWS: Qwälen tell a tale of stone smashing bones…

Somewhere between Black Metal aggression and Punk urgency is found the sound of Finnish hate bringers Qwälen. They have prepared for us a third full length album for a 6th March release via Time To Kill Records. Titled “Veri Virtaa Edelleen” (or “The Blood Still Flows“) it has been preceded by first single “Kiviä ja Luita” (or “Stones and Bones“), a cut which finds the band at their most direct and feral as they continue to sharpen their sound without sacrificing their primal edge. Pre-orders are available over at bandcamp.

The band comments: “‘Kiviä ja luita’ is the definitive track of the new album. Coming into existence as a blaze of creation, the song became a gateway towards expanding what the band can sound like. A testament to the flame within amongst the dying embers of humanity. We will never forget the sound of bone hitting stone. The primal force drives you to leave again and again, but Death always follows. You wait for a return that never comes. All that remains is stones and bones“.

Blood continues to flow. The third statement of Qwälen. Rottenness of our human reality, the abolition of our kings and gods, the normatively sinister path of brotherly violence. For Qwälen all of them mean nothing and yet all are everything.

With the very idea of black metal in its core, the band continues breaking free from the narrow-minded boundaries of the genre. Hail no one, but thyself. Raise no one on a pedestal but thyself and borders can only be drawn by the ones within. Gods are only alive if we let them.

Death is the final insult. The final middle finger when all is reduced to rocks and bones. The black serpent from within. The black flame of rebellion. Hail Satan. Blood continues to flow.
