NEWS: Absolute Darkness love Judge Dredd?

An exploration of power, corruption, and the human consequences of societal collapse painted in razor-sharp thrash riffs, melodic guitar harmonies, blistering solos and uncompromising aggression “Witness To A Dying World” by Absolute Darkness will be released on 23rd October. Following the release of the war-torn “Attritional Warfare” and the opioid crisis-focused “Snake Oil” the band have chosen “Above The Law” as the third single. Vocalist and guitarist Ron Dorn: “This is probably the most collaborative song on the album. Everyone contributed ideas that found their way into the final version, making it one of the most enjoyable songs for us to write.

Musically, it comes out of the gate fast but eventually opens up into one of my favorite sections on the album. The middle of the song slows things down just enough to let the guitar harmonies and Doug’s solo breathe before driving back into the final chorus.

Lyrically, it’s told from the perspective of someone who believes they’re completely untouchable. They abuse their power, blame everyone else for their actions, and don’t even bother trying to hide what they’re doing because they don’t believe there will ever be consequences.

It’s a mindset we’ve all seen play out in the real world, and I thought it made for an interesting character to write from”
