NEWS: Ominous Eclipse announce new EP, premier “Eclipse”!
While they haven’t set a date quite yet, Ottawa Progressive Death Metal collective Ominous Eclipse have shared a music video for a track from their upcoming new EP. “Eclipse” is one of four tracks slated for the release, the follow up to the bands 2018 album “Sinister” and fourth studio record overall since forming in 2014. They take their name from the Vin Diesel Science Fiction Horror film “Pitch Black” while cover art for this latest offering comes courtesy of Dark Days Design.
The band comment on the track: “The lyrical concept of ‘Eclipse’ is the representation of our name, Ominous Eclipse. It is a bleak tale of the sun being separated from the earth where on the blackened planet everything dies in darkness with despair. Musically, this is our most ambitious composition. With the 11-minute running time, orchestrations, and other new elements, we have strived for what we feel will be our magnum opus.”
and on the EP: “The tracks are more rhythmically focused as there is far less lead guitar shredding than our previous work. However, the guitars are still the focal point of our sound. With this release, we have a much less aggressive sound than our previous release “Sinister”.”
