NEWS: Carthus escape the Lions den?

Ever wondered what the sounds of Death, Thrash ans Folk Metal would sound if thrown in a melting pot together and brought to the boil? You need look no further than Australians Carthus. They in invite you on a journey which  explores the brutal potential of humanity frozen in time with “Images of Tyranny“, an album set for 21st July. Cryptic writings of a  collapsing society, deteriorating order and fantastical imagery are all part of their metaphor laden chronicles, as “Fed to The Lions” proves…

The band comments: “We wrote Lions in a time where the band was transitioning from more straight folk metal material into something heavier. The aim was definitely to bridge those two feelings and write something heavy but still retaining that melodic and gollopy feel that we’d cultivated in previous songs.

Lyrically this one was a heap of fun to write. Outwardly it’s a very clear homage to Conan the Barbarian along with that whole genre of weird medieval fantasy films. However looking closer the message of the song is actually one of class imbalance, and a call to rise up to focus on the root of this problem rather than fight each other. This comes out explicitly in the more frenetic parts of the song.

Notably this song is also the one that felt the most collaborative with every member adding their own sections during the writing process. For that reason we feel it’s a great single to represent the bands influences and future direction
