NEWS: Malevich begin to blossom?
It turns out that the reach of Church Road Records is indeed far and wide with the label preparing to distribute “Under a Gilded Sun” from Atlanta based Blackened Post-Metal Screamo act Malevich on 22nd August. The bands first with the label is their third in all with the message that “We live in a world where beauty has been defanged” running throughout. “Blossom in Full Force” is the first burnt offering, said to be a representation of dark esoteric music with moments of pure beauty to come.
“We want to feature this song as the first outing as it does a lot of different things musically that really showcases our direction with this album. The different sections twist into themselves, it shows more dynamics, it features more synths and layers, and has an almost uplifting, cathartic ending to it that features all three of our vocalists.
Lyrically it is in direct opposition to individualism as a culture. Whether we call it neoliberalism, Thatcherism, Reaganism, etc. there’s an enormous pressure on people to see themselves and others as atomized individuals, detached from each other. You succeed in this system through cut throat competition and if other people struggle it is their own fault somehow. In reality we are so dependent on each other that our very cognitive ability to recognize our own existence is reliant on the recognition of the existence of others and their affirmation that we also exist to them. We are biologically social creatures that raise our children, we care for each other, and we get lonely in isolation. The very fact that we have language is a phenomenon of collective effort. At the same time individuals do still exist and the most authentic way to be as an individual is to recognize our social dependence while also affirming everyone’s right to their own creative existence.”
