NEWS: Overthrow don’t know the greatest song in the world…
Featuring a guest appearance from Rick Jimenez of Extinction AD fame on one called “What Lies Ahead“, a new album from Hardcore legends Overthrow is on the horizon. After twenty one years in the wilderness the band played their first reunion show in December 2022 with Strife and Shutdown and haven’t stopped since. Having discovered they still have something to say the outfit have recorded “Setting the Price” for a 3rd October release comprising nine tracks that move between bounce, aggression and thought provoking lyrics. The news of the new album is accompanied by single “Tribute” however it’s not the first as last years cuts “The Calling” and “Anywhere But Here” both feature on the record.
Vocalist Chris Ruffini shares: “The new album is a reflection of both personal and collective growth—from struggle, resilience, and a need to move forward with clarity and strength. At its core, it’s about overcoming adversity and carving out a stronger, more intentional path after setbacks. We touch on themes of personal loss—acknowledging pain without being consumed by it—and how those experiences shaped us into who we are now. There’s a sense of learning from the past, not just surviving it.
The record also continues our commitment to addressing real-world issues, with a sociopolitical lens on the opioid crisis and its devastating impact. It’s a mix of confrontation and reflection—raw, honest, and driven by purpose.”
