NEWS: Vexes announce double trouble!
Back in April 2018 we reviewed “Ancient Geometry” by Vexes, a supergroup of sorts combining the talents of vocalist/guitarist Charlie Berezansky (ex-Vessl, ex-Downstage) and guitarist/keyboardist John Klagholz (ex-Vessl), alongside bassist Bobby Carpenter (as ex-A Life Once Lost) and drummer Justin Graves (as ex-A Life Once Lost) and after a period of silence their return with single “Beyond The Sinking” is a welcome one. That’s the first cut from the New Jersey’s collosal double album “Imagine What We Could Destroy /// If Only Given Time” that looks set to be the soundtrack of the summer when it lands on 17th June. If like us you thought that double albums were are thing of the past, this one is 24 tracks at nearly 2 hours in length leaving listeners awash in a cathartic union of discord and melody. Replete with crushing riffs, pummeling rhythm and anguished screams balanced and intertwined with atmospheric guitars, ambient synth and emotionally stirring vocals…
Commenting on the single, vocalist Charlie Berezansky states: “Many of the songs deal with today’s obsession with the public eye, seeing and being seen, and the hold that has over all of us, especially with social media and having lost much of the human connection we once had. We have a general disdain for the intrusiveness of these platforms but at the same time understand their importance, however fleeting that may be”
