NEWS: Anzillu premier “Discordia” and announce “Ex Nihilo”!

Captured at the famed Sonic Pump Studios with Nino Laurenne (Amorphis, Ensiferum, Omnium Gatherum) recording and mixing before mastering by Svante Forsbäck (Volbeat, Soulfly, Kalmah), the debut album of Finnish Extreme Metallers Anzillu has been announced for 27th January. A new band whose name is inspired by the ancient Sumerian word for “abomination”, Anzillu features in their ranks a collection of musicians known for their work in Inkvisitor, Argent Void and GAF while unveiling another cut from the nine track affair “Ex Nihilo” in “Discordia”. Pre-orders are available over at bandcamp.

”’Discordia’ was one of the reasons my previous band split up. It might be a divisive song for some people, but we firmly stand behind it,” explains guitarist Jesse Kämäräinen. “In the album context it fits perfectly as a breather in between more brutal songs and showcases the band’s versatility in songwriting. The song’s longing melody gives it almost a power ballad vibe, while the tempo is punishing 200bpm with lots of guitar action that culminates to an epic solo. The lyrics deal with a withering friendship that takes more than gives and how to let go. I think it’s an important message that sometimes it’s just time to move on from something that once was great, but has only become a shadow of its former glory.”

”We are thrilled to finally be able to reveal the details about our forthcoming debut album, ‘Ex Nihilo.’ It has been a lot of work and a long journey to get this album made, and the day that you get to hear it draws near. We’ve sat on it for a year, but in January we’ll unleash some hard hitting and punishing tunes filled with energy for all of you people” states Kämäräinen. “We’re also very much looking to tour in February, and hoping to see a lot of you in the audience. Until then, you can check out the awesome cover art by Mad Matt Design. It will look great on physical releases, especially the LP. Place your pre-orders now so you’ll not miss out.”
