NEWS: After Earth detail “The Rarity of Reason”!
They say that the finest of art is created in the most tragic of circumstances and for Swedish Melodic Death Metal After Earth, their seemingly non-stop line up issues have caused plenty of drama. Formed in 2017 in Skövde, Västra Götaland, it was only in mid-2019 that the band found a stable line-up and crafted enough material to start playing live shows. 2020 saw the beginnings of the great plague years and so the band recorded their debut EP “Before It Awakes“, which was met with great critical acclaim. That wasn’t enough to keep them together however and in 2022 there were more line up changes but somehow the band were able to put together single “From Age to Aeon“, a heavier new cut showcasing a sharper sound.
Fast forward to 2023 and just a few weeks before the band were scheduled to begin recording their debut album “The Rarity of Reason“, both guitarists suddenly decided to leave. Determined not to let that destroy their dream, the remainder of the band, vocalist Marcus Rydstedt, guitarist and drummer Anton Vehkaperä and bassist and acoustic guitarist Olof Öman then spent two weeks together with producer and studio engineer Robert Kukla at Obsidian Recording Studios. Session musician Christoffer Nilsson recorded the solos and then the album was mastered by Death Metal studio legend Fredrik Nordström (Nightrage, Obscura, Architects) at Studio Fredman. It will see release on 18th August with “Prometheus” currently streaming everywhere. You have been warned.
