NEWS: Sonus Mortis escape the “Overwhelming Mass”?

A music video for “Overwhelming Mass” that celebrates the artwork by James of Midas James Artwork & Design and Florin Alex for “Of Red Barren Earth” by Sonus Mortis has been unveiled along with a detailed explanation of its lyrical meanings. A seventh studio album from the one man Death-Doom with elements of Melodic Symphonic Black Metal project from Celbridge, Ireland it is not one to be missed. You like what you hear, you can find the album over at bandcamp.

Sonus Mortis comment: “”Overwhelming” is a song written in 2022 and on the surface level talks about environmental exploitation and destruction – the ‘red creeper’ spreading across Earth symbolising degradation. Humanity will not stop, whether it’s microplastics, clearing the amazon for farmland to ship South American “beef” halfway across the world to Europe like the merosur deal EU signed up to meanwhile we half our herd numbers leaving us vulnerable to future food shortages. Using cancer like metaphors to imply these problems are deeply rooted and spreading, posing significant challenges to humanity’s survival. The “core violation” within all of us, inherent human flaws or societal norms that have instilled harmful behaviors. Lyrics like “infected minds of influence” on how people are manipulated or led astray by those in power. The lyric ‘nefarious greenwashing bastards’ is targeted at corporations or governments that pretend to care for the environment while contributing to its destruction in many forms while we fear and consume”
