Interview: ATER talk “Somber” with Heavy New York!

Born from a vision for an infusion of Black, Death and Progressive grooves citing influences as far apart as Meshuggah and Belphegor and taking their name from the Latin adjective for dull black, gloomy, malevolent and obscure, ATER is a project masterminded by multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer and primary songwriter Fernando “Feroz” Bühring. Relocating to Los Angels California from Santiago Chile after 2018 debut album “Eternal Gray Spiral”, a new line up was formed after a chance meeting with guitarist and drummer Josh “Sol” Seguin and Stephan “Kalani” Seguin at a Meshuggah show. Six years on “Somber” was completed before mastering by Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound (Mastodon, Gojira, Korn). That journey is the topic of this interview between the band and Heavy New York…
