NEWS: Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Avernus arise once more!

Set to play their first show in six years on 1st November at Heavy Chicago Fest at The Avondale Music Hall in Chicago alongside Bongripper and Wraith, the returning Avernus will have a new album to select tunes from to build their setlist. A long time coming “Grievances“, the follow up to 2003 EP “Bury Me In Fire“, will see release via M-Theory Audio on 9th September, a record soaked in themes of Despair, Suicide, Loss, Mourning and Death from a band known for a Gothic tinged Death Doom sound. “Return to Dust” follows “Nemesis” as the second single with limited edition vinyl available here.

Guitarist Erik Kikke comments: “’Return To Dust’ reflects on getting older and the inevitability, and acceptance of death. Coming to terms with the end of everything as we know it, and trying to find comfort and solace in that thought. Rafael Ortega of Ecliptic Visions was able to create a visualizer that fit perfectly with a bleak and foreboding visual aesthetic.”
