NEWS: The Slime head back to the future?

We may only just be in September of 2024 but The Slime are already planning 2025. The Canadian Crossover Thrash quartet have completed a sophomore album titled “Crab-Walk To Oblivion” comprising no less that 11 cuts oozing with gruesome intensity, horror aesthetics and Old School Hardcore with raging crossover Thrash to delight with “Crab Walk” the first single. How they got David Schwimmer’s permission for the cover art we have no idea…

The band comment: “Andy, our singer and lyricist, is a huge fan of The Exorcist movie and novel. The song developed from the initial drum-beat and, when jamming it, he came up with the lyric ‘CRAB WALK down the stairs’. Of course, it’s not a CRAB WALK that Regan does down the stairs in the movie, it’s a spider-walk, and that scene isn’t even in the theatrical cut. I just had that image in my mind, of the girl creepily spider-walking backwards down the stairs, and the lyrics flowed from there, touching on the same themes as the novel’ Andy says ‘an innocent paying for the sins of adults, society losing faith in religion, colonialism and exploitation, B movie monsters, it’s all in there. We had to use an intro clip of George C. Scott in The Exorcist III, a film that gets overlooked, but is amazing in its own right. The main motif on the drums was the basis for this one musically and that’s paired with a classic groove in the middle. The whole thing culminates in a frenetic thrash part, speeding up the audience and kickstarting the circle pit.”
