NEWS: Black Coast find a commotion in the ocean?

Ahead of a run of shows with Confessions of a Traitor to bring the curtain down on their year in style, Stoke natives Black Coast have added a new single in “Motion” to their discography. A cathartic externalisation of internal pressures, it follows a critically-acclaimed, self-titled EP last year as well as playing Bloodstock and supporting Better Lovers a combination hard to beat…

Vocalist Charlie Hewitt says: “Motion is really about my own struggles with feeling like I can never slow down. There’s this constant pressure to keep going and I find it hard to just stop and let go; mentally and physically, it takes a toll. What hits me the hardest is how easy it is to hide what’s going on inside. People can pretend everything’s fine, but deep down, they’re struggling. This song is for anyone who’s ever felt like that. It’s something I deal with, and I think a lot of people will relate. The concept behind the Motion video visualises the internal battle I face. It’s a journey through different forms of torment, things that aren’t always visible on the surface but become exposed in the video. The visuals capture the feeling of being at war inside yourself as these struggles are brought to light, reflecting the intense emotions and mental strain that often remain unseen for most people who interact with you.”

“This freedom has given us the space to experiment, a process that’s fully realised in ‘Motion’,” they comment. “With invaluable input from Sam Bloor and Jonny Price in the studio, we’ve explored fresh ideas, recording a diverse array of songs that stretch our style in new directions. In tandem with our long-time collaborator Joe Berisford, we’ve crafted visuals that delve deeper, creating an immersive experience that connects to the heart of each new track. We can’t wait to share the full depth of what we’ve been working on, both sonically and visually.”
