NEWS: Weed Demon roast some Zappa?

A year after first single “Tower Of Smoke” emerged from the undergrowth, Electric Valley Records have announced that on 31st January 2025 they will be issuing limited edition vinyl for “The Doom Scroll“, a new album from Weed Demon. If you pickup a vinyl copy you will get a not so secret track in addition with a cover of “Willy the Pimp” by Frank Zappa,  a classic known for Captain Beefheart’s idiosyncratic vocal grit and Zappa’s epic, extended guitar solo. Also appearing on the record is Shy Kennedy of Funerals and Horehound who adds guest vocals to “Coma Dose”. Pre-orders are available over at bandcamp.

The audio equivalent of bong water spilled on a Ouija board, Weed Demon are a four piece Stoner Sludge Metal band from Columbus, Ohio. Over the last decade, they have released an EP “Stoned to Death” as well as two full-length albums, steadily building their presence while never revisiting the same playbook twice. Instead they have expanded their sonic horizons with each subsequent record, the upcoming one said to include elements of doom, gloom, sludge, thrash, death, blues, and even a dash of dungeon synth for good measure.
