NEWS: Celestial Sanctuary drown you in dirt puddles?

Returning to their “Visions of Stagnant Blood” EP once more, Cambridge Death Metal titans Celestial Sanctuary have utilized the skills of Kiefer Passey, Jordan Noon and Steph Evans to capture and edit a live performance of “Puddles of You Reflect the Filth Within” to create a music video. The record is of course the bands first with Metal Blade Records, building on the success of its predecessor “Insatiable Thirst For Torment” as they rise from the grave with plans of world domination!

Vocalist and guitarist Thomas Cronin comments: “Live music videos, in my opinion are the best music videos. No matter the band – it really gives you a sense of what you’re in for when it comes to the most important aspect of metal… the live show.

We’d done a more DIY one before, collecting footage people shot on their phones at shows. But we’d come a very long way and our confidence has grown massively and we had a bunch of important shows coming up, so knew we wanted to capture the insanity and brutality of our live experience.

I’d met Kiefer [Passey, music video director] at a Cattle Decapitation & 200 Stab Wounds show and we bonded over our mutual love of sick music videos, and I knew straight away we needed to work together – we had a tour with Incantation lined up, as well as Download Festival and a main support slot with Kerry King, all within a few weeks of each other, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to capture us in 3 different environments – The Underworld, a skanky sweatbox where the air con never works. Our favourite venue in the world. download festival – the biggest rock and metal fest in the U.K. and The Electric Ballroom – a big venue in London where we knew we were stepping into the next level of the band.

For us – it’s not about staging a live show with just our fans. In our mind – these shows were going to be a real test for us and a step up onto a bigger stage… literally and figuratively. And it demonstrates that we can disrupt, cause chaos and violence wherever we go… be it 11am at a huge festival playing to people who’ve never heard us, supporting one of the most important groups of people in Metal (KK, Bostaph, Demmel) who’s fans probably had no expectations of the opening band, and of course sharing a stage with titans of death metal who we admire dearly.”
