NEWS: The Jötunn celebrate their love of At The Gates!

Following the departure of bassist and producer Cole Martinez (Abigail Williams, Whitechapel, Aborted) last month, Ohio Melodic Death Metal quintet The Jötunn have announced the arrival of guitarist Leo Debevc and bassist Londyn Hager. Parting on good terms means that Martinez engineered, mixed and mastered a cover of the At The Gates classic “Suicide Nation” for them at Conquistador Studios, a track said to be the first of a tripart offering landing this summer.

Vocalist Paul Kahan comments: “We really like to wear our influences on our sleeve and let those influences breathe life in to songs that can stand on their own. AT THE GATES is a HEAVY influence for this band. Slaughter of the Soul is a defining album for us as listeners and players. We along with so many other bands have used this album as a blueprint for how melodic metal should sound for a long time. I was absolutely blown away. I remember that being a really pivotal moment for me personally with music. It [“Suicide Nation”] became one of my favourite songs of all time and I remember in the back of my head that if I ever had the opportunity to do a cover this would be the first one I pitched. I basically begged the band to do it.”
