NEWS: Coroner return with “Renewal”!
After more than three decades wandering in the wilderness, it seems its true that not all that wander are lost as Swiss Technical Metal pioneers Coroner have inked a deal with Century Media for a new album. Its is written that “Dissonance Theory” will see the cold light of day on 17th October having been recorded by guitarist Tommy Vetterli at New Sound Studios in Switzerland. That was of course followed by mixing and mastering by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden (Opeth, Kreator, Amon Amarth) before it was conjoined to artwork from Stefan Thanneur. Due to the unbelievable nature of the announcement a music video directed by Dariusz Szermanowic for new song “Renewal” has been shared. Pre-orders are available over at bandcamp
Guitarist Tommy Vetterli comments: “I thought a lot about what CORONER should sound like today, but I pretty quickly realised that looking backwards wouldn’t serve us. Of course, over time you develop a certain signature as a musician. So even if the material is new, it might still feel like a bridge to earlier phases – simply because it’s me writing it”
“That said, we didn’t set out to continue a legacy. We just wanted to create something honest and grounded in the present. ‘Renewal’ now opens the chapter for what became the first CORONER album I’m fully satisfied with, start to finish. So we’ll let the music speak for itself – you’ll know if it speaks to you.”
