NEWS: Gutted Souls play the zero sum game!
Having roots that go back more than twenty years leaves vocalist Iron (IncognoscI, ex-Anopsy, ex-Diisgraça) the sole remaining founding member of Brazilian Technical Progressive Death Metal act Gutted Souls. Focused on politically infused lyrics about psychopathy, mediatic manipulation and the corruption of science and religion, the band have made their name sharing stages with the likes of Obituary, Carach Angren and Krisiun.
Now they return like battled hardened warriors, armed with a new album in “Portals To Chaosium” with the suggestion that it’s darker, faster and even more brutal than it’s predecessors. Recorded, mixed, mastered and produced by Victor Mendonça (ex-Lacerated, Carbonized) that will see dawn’s first light on 26th September through Polish label Via Nocturna. “Zero-Sum Overlords” is now streaming everywhere that’s good.
The band comment: “What is Portals to Chaosium? It’s brutal & technical death metal with the raw energy and nostalgia of 90’s and early 2000 , but with modern production. Songs contains almost progressive solo sections, contrasting with breakdowns and fast blasts, with old school mid tempo beats in between – there is something for all lovers of the different subgenres of death metal. Lyrics are about cosmic horror, parasocial decay, alchemical transformation, entropy, transhumanism, existential dread, woven together to create a dark, dystopian narrative“.
