NEWS: Barren Path admit that “In The End, The Gift Is Death”!
Whether or not the name of the debut album “Grieving” from Barren Path is a reference to the fact it is born from the ashes of Gridlink is a question for the band themselves but the truth is that the project is actually a continuation rather than a fresh start. That’s because Gridlink writing partnership Takafumi Matsubara and Bryan Fajardo, the masterminds behind that outfit, re-enlisted Grindcore commandos Mauro Cordoba and Rory Kobzina, who were both key players in their last album “Coronet Juniper“, with the only new recruit being vocalist Mitchell Luna of Maruta and Shock Withdrawal fame. That means the hype levels have reached fever pitch around their debut album with Willowtip Records set to unveil it on 31st October.
New song “In The End, The Gift Is Death” is now streaming to confirm what all the evidence points to and one glance at the credits on this one should whet the appetite still further. Vocals were recorded by Phil Vera (Despise You, Crom) at Veracuda studios in Los Angeles, California. Drums and guitar were tracked by Irving Lopez (Cognizant, Trucido) who also mixed the album at Anomalous Mind Recordings in Dallas Texas. Mastering was then handled by Leon Del Muerte (Impaled, Exhumed, Murder Construct) at Beastman Audio, Portland Oregon. That’s a lethal dose right there!
