NEWS: Humming Whale announce “Chasing Rabbits”!

Almost a decade in the making, a debut album from Finnish Progressive Metal act Humming Whale is on the horizon. A project based around the writing partnership of guitarist Lassi Paunonen and bassist Ville Kiiveri that began life in 2006, it was 2015 before they brought onboard vocalist Aki Hahto and drummer Antti Lumijärvi. The four piece then began recording their debut album in 2016, rewriting some of their existing material to better suit a heavier sound with a greater variety of influences. Lumijärvi exited stage left to be replaced by Matias Kuure in 2023, the album finally set to arrive via Inverse Records on 21st November 2025. The first listen from the collection is “Ocular” with pre-orders are available over at bandcamp.

Guitarist Lassi describes the song: “Ocular is the first single from our upcoming debut album. It was originally composed in 2016 as a song based solely on guitar riffs. When recording our album during 2017-2024, we got very inspired by synthesizers and acoustic percussion and this led to the final form of the song.”
