NEWS: Erra outlive the Earth?
Prolific American Progressive Metalcore collective, Erra have shared the first part of a trilogy of songs in new single, ‘i. the many names of god’, a track which seethes with discontent. It’s part of “silence outlives the earth“, a 6th March release via UNFD that coincides with a North American tour from Baltimore to San Antonio. Does it DJent though?
Guitarist and clean vocalist Jesse Cash comments: “The many names of god is the first in what we consider the trilogy of silence outlives the earth. The trilogy represents a distinct shift in tone from the previous songs on the record. we wanted the aesthetic of the track listing to persuade the feeling of that shift. the record transitions to a darker place at this point, and the many names serves to take the heaviest moods expressed in the preceding tracks and visceralize them. When I wrote that song I was thinking about the day my dad died, but I wasn’t writing about my dad dying, if that makes sense. It would be inaccurate to say that that song was written about my dad. It’s not, but that is the feeling that I was anchoring to while writing it.”
