NEWS: Deep Sleep call for a head on a plate!

Another one of five recorded at Sunnanå Studios in Malmö by Markus Nilsson (Deville, Horns Of Anguish, Nonexist), third single “Bring Me The Head” from Swedish Thrash trio Deep Sleep has emerged online ahead of their EP “Repulsion“. That will arrive on 26th June having been given the gift of artwork by Bartosz Nalezinski (Soilwork, Crowpath, Setherial). Inspired by the biblical myth in which two mothers fighting over a baby led to King Solomon ordering the child to be sliced into two parts, as a way of testing the women’s true maternal instincts, the track is about motherhood and the abandonment felt by society when women refuse these instincts.

The band comment: ““Bring Me The Head”is a dark and brooding song about obsession and possession. Both musically and lyrically, it takes inspiration from the biblical figure Salome, who desires John the Baptist but is rejected. As a means of revenge, but also as a way of owning his holiness, she demands his head on a plate. The music matches those conflicting feelings of hate and desire, cruising between quick frenzied guitars and furious drumming, then changing moods into heavy half tempo headbangs and finally introducing a more sinister streak with dissonant guitar solos, pounding drums and the vocals exorcising almost black mass intonations.”
