NEWS: Numento enter the void!

Inverse Records have warned that Finnish Progressive Melodic Death Metal act Numento have got a new EP slated for a grand unveiling later this year and have thrown “One With The Void” at us in evidence. A fine example of the bands trademark sound in which brutality and melancholy are intertwined with diverse vocal expressions and interesting guitar melodies.

If the artwork didn’t give it away the track is actually inspired by a particularly sinister and fascinating natural phenomenon: the fungus Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, better known as the zombie-ant fungus, which infects carpenter ants. The fungus takes complete control of its host, manipulates its behavior, and forces the ant to climb high into vegetation before its inevitable end.
