Track Review: “Body Choke” by Youth Wound
“Youth Wound has become a place to express my emotions in a way that feels both true to me, whilst looking forward. There’s a lot of introspection throughout Youth Wounds music, but this is a cry of rage and anger against those that spit, stamp and sneer at those beneath them. The ones who will crush communities just out of spite and greed – It is a promise that in the end, we will watch their wretched bodies choke.” ~ Adam Noiseboy.
As two projects aren’t enough to scratch his creative itch Adam Sedgwick of Tribe Of Ghosts and Noiseboy fame has started Youth Wound, an Industrial Hardcore project based out of the south coast city of Brighton. Conceived in May 2026 and formed with the ideology of seeing how far sound and visuals can be pushed, the promise is of intense, aggressive music and textured, disquieting imagery to create its world. Having already established himself as a songwriter, producer, multi instrumentalist, vocalist and artist in his own right, he’s also decided that this project will perform live. For the purpose Adam will be joined by members of Brighton stalwarts Currls, Kinzoku and Halveksia…
Everyone who heard last years EP from Tribe Of Ghosts will know about its harsh edges while this first song from Youth Wound doesn’t have the electronic soundscapes or haunting pop vocal patterns there are obvious comparisons between Sedgwick’s projects held within “Body Choke“. That’s by no means a bad thing because while it’s possible to separate a musician from a band the art an artist creates often remains cut from the same cloth when they are the primary song writer.
What Sedgwick does with this first puzzle piece is push on the Extreme Metal influences that Tribe Of Ghosts poses, infusing Industrial Metal and Hardcore with ethereal darkness so you get harder, faster sonic abrasions that don’t allow time and space for the haunting melodies because “Body Choke” is more of a battering ram. Rampaging through the first verse with harsh vocals and ripping guitars gets the tone before 30 seconds in Sedgwick changes direction, introducing a clean vocal part that has early 90’s Nine Inch Nails vibes to it. A fleeting moment that lays down the art of the possible that then makes way for the layered caustic screams that formulate the chorus, that scream-a-long sensibility adding to the mosh pit violence inciting madness that surrounds it. A pummelling breakdown then swings thing back with a potent mid-tempo crush as the spleen venting madness dies down but in truth this one hits with such force it knocks you into next week. A potent, powerful and promising start for a new project undoubtedly built on the foundations and lessons learned elsewhere, the future for Youth Wound is as hot as a furnace in hell itself [9/10]
“Body Choke” by Youth Wound is out 26th October 2026 and is available over at bandcamp.
