NEWS: Cogadh muse on Cromwell’s Curse!

Expanding their horizons Cogadh have promised that their new album “Kingmaker” takes their sound to a new realm of existence by pushing on the established boundaries of traditional melodic Black Metal. Incorporating a variety of vocal styles and acoustic folk instruments, including Irish whistles, accordion and atmospheric sound effects recorded in the woods of Quebec, the affair is the follow up to 2022 EP “Runetongue” and will arrive on 6th March. Ahead of that they have ventured into the historical archives for the tale of “Cromwell’s Curse“.

The band comment: “The lyrics for this song explore the dualities of legacy and reputation in history. To many, the name Oliver Cromwell can elicit ideas and themes of rebellion, overthrowing an oppressive regime and doing away with the King – while to others his name may be entirely synonymous with oppression itself and the dangers of becoming the evils you sought to rid the world of. The video for Cromwell’s Curse pays tribute to Darkthrone’s movie/documentary ‘The Misanthrope’. Containing studio clips, rehearsal footage, landscape shots, and lots more from the recording process – we hope you enjoy the small glimpse into our process.”
