5 Albums I Want To Be Buried With #24: Break Them!

As Peterborough Hardcore crew Break Them left an impression on our skulls like the boot print on the cover of “Absolute” by Kublai Khan when they tore up The Bullingdon in Oxford at last years Rabidfest, we figured it would be awesome to invite vocalist Tom Amos to tell us about five albums he’d like to take to the afterlife with him. As he’s an absolute legend, he agreed and with with band having dropped the seriously infectious third EP “To The Death” a couple of weeks back, our timing couldn’t be any better!

The premise is simple: “Back in ancient Egypt they believed that the items their Kings were buried with would travel with them into the afterlife and so part of the burial ritual would see the mummified bodies surrounded by chariots, gold and more. Fast forward to now. If there were five albums that you’d want buried in the coffin with you to take to the afterlife, what would you choose?

1. “Iowa” by Slipknot

“The first metal album I bought was “The Height of Callousness” by Spineshank which I still do back to back to this day. But not long after that I found a copy of “Iowa” in a local record shop (Pendulum Records in Stamford) and peeled the parental advisory sticker off to buy. Slipknot aren’t the band they used to be but those first couple of albums shaped me in a big way”

2. “Hellalive” by Machine Head

“My stepdad was in the RAF when I was growing up so eventually we started moving about a bit with him. I met a guy in Telford called Tony who gave me “Crashing Around You” on a CD with “Ten Ton Hammer” as well. “Hellalive” was the first full album I got by machine head and it is one of the best live albums ever.”

3. Hamilton OST

“My wife and I can sing 90% of the entire soundtrack to Hamilton in the car with no issues and we do it all the time. Front to back bangers, not metal but still hard as nails”

4. “Self Titled” by Gods Hate

It’s hard to pick 5 hardcore albums but I’ve made it even harder and I’m narrowing it to 2. I listen to Gods Hate by Gods Hate more than once a week every week. Every song makes me feel like I can move a bus. Good people on the right side of history making good music

5. “The Few, The Deep” by Bun Dem Out

My favourite UK band is Bun Dem Out, this album has one of the greatest openers of all time. 26 minutes and 10 songs, if I ever listen to a song off this album the rest of it follows instantly. Big up London and Rucktion Records for cultivating some of the best in UKHC

To The Death” by Break Them is out 26th February 2026 and is available over at bandcamp
