They might have only managed a single album before implosion and partial rebirth as Dirty Americans but “Sons of the Pioneers” managed to appear on Roadrunner Records and get The Workhorse Movement a UK run with Pitchshifter. The Detroit Michigan residents brought to the table something unique with an eclectic mix of riffs and vocal styles that has an unbridled sense of fun, while “Keep The Sabbath Dream Alive” was their big single with its mantra for life and numerous Black Sabbath references on in the video. Part 70s funk, part Monster Magnet, the album also crosses into hip-hop with Estham making a guest appearance on “Traffic“. At the time, Roadrunner Records experimented with bands like The Step Kings and Dyslocated Styles, but as Nu-Metal made way for Metalcore, all three were washed away by the tide…
