Riff Police! Pull Over! #73: TripleMurder Vs Avenged Sevenfold!

A couple of weeks ago we reviewed the all round good time that is “Pre-Mediated” by Canadian Metallers TripleMurder. They have a nostalgic 90s Metal vibe to them that floats our boat and while it’s nothing new, it is fantastic good fun and that’s something everyone can enjoy. While we were listening to it, a surprise influence leapt into our eardrums and did a little war dance. For all the Pantera esq riffs on show, the lead riff of “Eyes of Judgement” sounded very, very familiar.

Why? We hear you cry. Well in the same way that Nepalese Metalcore heroes Underside lifted the riff from “Unholy Confessions” by Avenged Sevenfold, these gentlemen have fallen into the same Venus Flytrap. The Orange County Californian Metalcore acts 2003 sophomore offering “Waking The Fallen” is a staple of that era so it’s incredibly hard not to be influenced. Is Quebecanise even a word? Would it be Quebecites?
