Throwback: “The Lasting Dose” by Crowbar!

New Orleans Louisiana Sludge Metal Legends Crowbar are much loved in these parts with not only stonewall classics like “Odd Fellows Rest” and “Equilibrium” seen regularly on our playlist, but also newer material like “Sever The Wicked Hand“. Today however, we’re going to set the dial for 2001 and the bands groundbreaking seventh studio record “Sonic Excess In Its Purest Form“. The only album to feature ex-Machine Head drummer Tony Costanza, it’s record filled with solemnity and meloncholic beauty with the jaw dropping opening cut “The Lasting Dose” being a personal favourite track. Here are the band performing it in 2013 at Tipinitas in New Orleans, shot by Mike Holderbeast and the Cement Level Studios crew. Sheer class. Is it any wonder that Chimaira, Crystal Lake and Throwdown have all held up Crowbar as being an influence upon them?
