Vs. Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FIGHT! Powerman 5000.
Ah the year 2000. How we spent many hours playing Tony Hawks Pro Skater #2 on the PC with it’s Alternative soundtrack blending Nu-Metal, Punk and Hip-Hop. After all, where else would you find Bad Religion, Rage Against The Machine and Mos Def on the same compilation? Critically acclaimed as being one of the finest video games of all time, it certainly helped pass the small hours of insomnia before the Saw franchise came along. One of the highlights of that soundtrack was “When Worlds Collide” by Powerman 5000, which appears on their 1999 record “Tonight the Stars Revolt!” and popular that it also appeared on the Adam Sandler film Little Nicky as well as WWE Smackdown! Vs Raw.
Loving their cheese science fiction themes and Industrially tinged Nu-Metal with hints of Rob Zombie influence, in the Red Corner we have Costa Rica natives Partners In Crime, performing the track in the summer of 2019. We’ve been loving their female vs male vocal contrast in their take. In the blue corner we have Deathcore heathens BroJob who have announced a full line up outside of the axis of evil that is vocal pairing Andrew Zink and Jacob Wallace for a new record in “early 2021”. They dropped their version, which was produced by Connor Reibling at Hollowed Studios back in February, hilariously calling it a Powerman 500 cover. Who wins? You decide!
