Throwback: “Asylum Cave” from Benighted!
Combining the genres of Death Metal, Black Metal and Grindcore since 1998 with vocalist Julien Truchan the last man standing from the original line up, Benighted have reached the 10th Anniversary milestone for their album “Asylum Cave”. Recorded at Kohlekeller Studios in Darmstadt, Hessen, Germany and their debut for current label home Season Of Mist, the Frenchmen managed to pursade the talents of Sven de Caluwé of Aborted, Mike Majewski of Devourment and Asphodel of Pin-Up Went Down to lend their throats to cuts from the record, something which has remained a familiar theme thought their ten album career. A technical shape shifting monster that saw some screaming sellout for some vinyl scratching from Dirk Bretträger on “Drowning” but Trunchan is the star of the show, spitting, snarling, shrieking and squealing his was schizophrenically through bomb blasts of incendiary percussive battery and buzzsaw guitar work of razor sharp intent. Here’s the music video for the title track shot at Lyon’s Hall France, submitted as evidence.
