Throwback: “Leaves Of Three” by Soilent Green!

Formed in 1988 in the suburbs of New Orleans Louisiana, Soilent Green released six albums of Sludge Metal with hints of other genres including Grindcore and Bluesy Southern RockĀ  between 1995 and 2008 with obvious comparisons to bands like Corrosion Of Conformity and Crowbar. Taking their name from the 1973 American ecological dystopian thriller Soylent Green directed by Richard Fleischer, itself loosely based on the 1966 science fiction novel Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison about the investigation of a murder in a dystopian future, a strange irony being that the bands former bassist Scott Williams was killed in a murderā€“suicide by his roommate in April 2004, two years after his exit from the band. It is to their 2005 album “Confrontation” that we look to for our throwback, their final album with Relapse Records which was crafted at Mana Recording Studios in Tampa Florida with Producer Erik Rutan with our choice the classic “Leaves of Three“…
