Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins?! FIGHT! Highway.
“Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana. “Smoke On Water” by Deep Purple. “My Name Is Glory” by Weaponry. There are classic riffs and then there are classic riffs. Ear worms that get into your head and won’t let go, the kind of thing you find yourself subliminally humming while waiting on the kettle boiling or for a Pizza to be delivered. The title track of the 1979 album “Highway To Hell” by AC/DC is one of those tunes. A stone cold classic riff from Angus Young in the key of A major with a lyric inspired by the Canning Highway that runs from Perth to Fremantle about that touring life is the subject of today’s head to head.
In the blood Red Corner we have have the most obvious choice you could have in the 1999 version that saw Argentinian Metallers A.N.I.M.A.L. joined by the icon that was Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead. It was recorded at Indigo Ranch in Los Angeles for the bands album “Usa Toda Tu Fuerza” or “Use all your strength” that would see the band later play Warped Tour with the likes of Papa Roach and Green Day. In the ice Blue Corner we have Leo Moracchioli from Frog Leap studios because aside from his high grade Metalized version, let’s face it, it’s cold in his Norwegian homeland. It’s a classic from him that should slot nicely into the Frog Leap Live show and see Toska guitarist Rabea Massaad dance in delight as he plays it. Who Wins? You Decide!
