The Black Map #209: Copehill Down from Newport!
In our weekly journey across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom Underground Metal scene in what we like to call The Black Map, it’s been a little while since we mentioned a band from deepest darkest Wales. So righting that wrong, it’s time we spoke about Copehill Down, a five piece that love nothing more than to assault your senses with their fierce and fiery brand of Metalcore. As they put it, they pack a punch that only the strong can survive. Influenced by the 2003 era of Metalcore bands that evolved from the Gothenburg Sweden Melodic Death Metal sound in the likes of Unearth and As I Lay Dying, they’ve been treading the boards since 2016. Having shares stages with the likes of Bleed Again and Recall The Remains, they have gradually been evolving to incorporate elements from the Progressive side of the genre as well as (whisper it) DJent. Currently working on a new EP with their eyes firmly set on the third quarter of 2022, their latest single “Akiya” dropped in February, although whether or not it will make the grade remains to be seen.
