Vs Tuesday: Two Bands! One Song! Who Wins? FIGHT! Quiet.

Arguably one of the finest Alt Rock albums money couldn’t buy “Siamese Dream” put The  Smashing Pumpkins firmly on the map back in 1993 with a quartet of huge singles. It’s testament to the quality of the album, written in the wake of a nervous breakdown that it’s a cut that isn’t one of those singles that today’s challengers have decided to take on…

In the Red Corner we have a rendition of the Smashing Pumpkins classic by Nu-Metal era Alternative Metal trio Chevelle. It surfaced around the time of their 2004 album “This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)“, one written on four months from scratch in a winter of discontent that goes heavy on the syncopated rhythms and double kicks for that head nodding listenablity. In the Blue Corner we have Primitive Man who continue to astound with their caustic nihility and oddly enough chose to record their rendition for their new record “Insurmountable“. A four track near forty minute affair, it’s a soul crushing Blackened Doom monster that continues their pointed narrative like a poison pen letter after a bad romance. Who Wins? You decide!
